FormalSideI am an ACE-certified personal trainer and Orthopedic Exercise Specialist. I am also Level One certified with YogaFit.

When I started training myself to get fit back in 1996, my friends and family saw my results and wanted advice. Back then, you didn’t need a special certification, you just needed to know what you were doing. I learned a lot through the years, from other people and from seeing what works on my own body and what doesn’t.

In my early 40s, I fulfilled a long-time dream, and competed in a division of bodybuilding known as Figure. After three contests in three years, I decided to try other things. Now, I’m approaching 50, and keep my body healthy with cycling, running, weight lifting and functional training. I also do caving, lots of hiking, and kickboxing.

It surprises people to hear the long list of health problems and birth defects I deal with every day, but to me it’s just not an issue. Many of my clients are recovering from strokes or joint replacement surgery, or dealing with MS or RA, and I realize I have nothing to complain about.
